PKU Project
We have great need for a family in Seleus, Romania
This is a family of four with two girls ages 5 and 7 with an ongoing need for a medical food supplement.
They have been diagnosed with phenylketonuria, commonly known as known as PKU, which is a genetic error resulting in the inability to process a common amino acid phenylalanine.
The girls were originally misdiagnosed and treated for autism for several years, causing brain damage throughout that time.
They have now been correctly diagnosed and must purchase the supplements from surrounding European countries because Romania does not carry the prescription.
Both of the parents are teachers and with their income, they cannot afford to purchase the needed medications and the special foods the children are capable of eating.
The cost of the supplement is approximately $1000 per month to purchase from Europe.
EMF is now purchasing the supplements for the family from the United States for $250-$300 per month.
We are looking for sponsors for the family;
If we had only eleven sponsors donating $25 a month, we could meet the needs of this family.
The need is Great, but No Gift is Too Small
